Save the Date: 16–18 November 2026 | Esplanade Hotel Fremantle, Perth
IHEA is pleased to invite members, industry partners and healthcare infrastructure professionals to save the date for the IHEA Symposium WA 2026, to be held from 16–18 November 2026 at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle, Perth.
Under the theme “Collaboration by Design: Advancing Healthcare Together”, this Symposium has been designed to be more than a traditional conference. Rather than simply presenting a series of technical papers, the event will create a collaborative forum for meaningful discussion, practical insight and cross-disciplinary problem solving.
Healthcare engineering and infrastructure management are becoming increasingly complex. The challenges facing the sector cannot be solved by one discipline alone. They require input from engineering, clinical, operational, commercial, design, contractor and supplier perspectives.
That is what makes this Symposium different.
A Forum for Real Conversation
The IHEA Symposium WA 2026 has been developed to encourage open discussion around the issues that matter most to hospital engineering and health infrastructure professionals.
The event will provide space to explore the real-world challenges facing healthcare facilities, including innovation, workforce capability, asset performance, sustainability, project delivery, risk, procurement, compliance and the integration of new technologies.
Rather than treating these topics in isolation, the Symposium will bring together people from across the healthcare infrastructure ecosystem to consider how decisions made in one area affect outcomes across the whole facility.
This includes perspectives from:
Healthcare engineers and facility managers
Clinical teams and operational leaders
Business and executive decision-makers
Contractors and project delivery partners
Consultants, designers and technical specialists
Suppliers and industry partners
Asset managers and infrastructure planners
By bringing these groups into the same conversation, the Symposium aims to build shared understanding and support better decision-making across the sector.

Designed for Interaction, Not Just Attendance
Many events provide valuable technical content, but limited opportunity for genuine discussion. The IHEA Symposium WA 2026 has been intentionally shaped to support interaction, exchange and collaboration.
Through engaging presentations, interactive panel discussions, site-based learning and networking opportunities, attendees will be encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions and share lessons learned from their own environments.
The aim is for delegates to leave not only with information, but with practical ideas, stronger professional connections and a clearer understanding of how others are approaching similar challenges.
This is an event for people who want to participate in the conversation, not simply sit in the audience.
Why Western Australia?
Hosting the Symposium in Fremantle provides an opportunity to spotlight Western Australia’s healthcare infrastructure landscape, while also creating a national platform for shared learning.
WA presents a unique context for healthcare engineering and infrastructure management, with large geographic distances, diverse service environments, regional and remote challenges, and significant opportunities for innovation in delivery models, technology and workforce planning.
The Symposium will provide an opportunity to explore these issues while also welcoming insights from across Australia and the Asia Pacific.
Collaboration by Design
The theme “Collaboration by Design: Advancing Healthcare Together” reflects the intent of the event.
Effective healthcare infrastructure does not happen by accident. It requires early engagement, thoughtful planning, technical expertise, operational understanding and strong relationships across disciplines.
The Symposium will explore how collaboration can be deliberately built into the way projects are planned, infrastructure is managed, technology is implemented and services are supported.
This includes asking important questions such as:
How can engineers and clinical teams work together more effectively?
How can infrastructure decisions better support patient care and staff experience?
How can suppliers and contractors contribute to better long-term outcomes?
How do we balance innovation with compliance, risk and operational continuity?
How can health services make better use of data, digital tools and emerging technologies?
What practical lessons can be shared from projects that have worked well — and those that have not?
These are the types of conversations the Symposium has been designed to support.
