IHEA is inviting eligible members to submit an expression of interest to represent the Institute at the 2026 New Zealand Institute of Healthcare Engineering Conference, being held in Auckland from 12–13 November 2026. https://www.nziheconference.org.nz
Through the longstanding ANZEX exchange program, one Australian member will be selected to attend the conference, present a paper and represent IHEA within the New Zealand healthcare engineering community.
This is a unique professional development opportunity to showcase Australian expertise, exchange ideas with industry colleagues and gain valuable insights from healthcare projects and facilities across New Zealand.
Share Your Experience on an International Stage
The successful delegate will deliver a conference presentation on a topic relevant to healthcare engineering, infrastructure, facilities management or the broader conference theme.
Submissions may explore:
Major healthcare infrastructure projects
Engineering innovation and emerging technologies
Asset and facilities management
Sustainability and energy performance
Commissioning and operational readiness
Resilience, risk and compliance
Workforce capability and industry collaboration
Practical case studies and lessons learned
Presentations should be technical, relevant and grounded in real-world experience, with a strong focus on practical insights that can benefit healthcare engineering professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
Whether you have led a major project, introduced an innovative solution, improved operational performance or learned valuable lessons through a complex challenge, this is an opportunity to share your experience with a highly engaged industry audience.
About the ANZEX Exchange
ANZEX is a longstanding professional exchange between IHEA and NZIHE, designed to strengthen collaboration, knowledge-sharing and professional relationships across the Tasman.
The delegate is nominated by the respective Board and supported to attend the other country’s national conference, participate in professional and industry activities, and visit relevant healthcare facilities.
The successful Australian delegate will be expected to:
Prepare and present a conference paper aligned with the conference theme
Represent IHEA professionally throughout the exchange
Participate in relevant healthcare facility and industry visits
Share their experience through a written report suitable for publication
Apply and share the knowledge gained within their workplace or professional practice
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
Be a current IHEA member
Have held continuous IHEA membership for at least five years
Be, or have been, actively involved in IHEA activities during that period
Have the support of their employer to participate in the exchange
Be available to attend the NZIHE Conference in Auckland from 12–13 November 2026
Support for the Selected Delegate
Under the ANZEX exchange arrangements, IHEA will support the Australian delegate’s approved return travel, while NZIHE will provide conference registration and accommodation.
Additional approved travel and exchange-related expenses may also be covered in accordance with the ANZEX guidelines.
The exchange may include visits to hospitals and healthcare facilities, offering the successful delegate valuable opportunities to:

How to Submit
Members are invited to provide:
A proposed presentation title
A short abstract
A speaker biography
A brief outline of relevant professional experience
Confirmation of availability for 12–13 November 2026
Confirmation of employer support
A short statement explaining why they would be a strong representative for IHEA
Expressions of interest will be reviewed by the IHEA Board, which will select the successful delegate.
