Following the resounding success of our recent Gold Coast National Conference, IHEA is pleased to announce our next Queensland Professional Development Day.

This event will bring together healthcare engineers, facility managers, infrastructure professionals, industry partners and technical specialists for an afternoon of insight, discussion and meaningful connection.
The program will explore how emerging technologies, smart monitoring systems, connected operational technologies and intelligent electrical infrastructure are transforming the way healthcare facilities are designed, operated and maintained.
Event Details
Date: Thursday 30 July
Time: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Location: Pineapple Hotel, Brisbane
Event Theme
The Rise of Intelligent Infrastructure in Healthcare Facilities
Healthcare facilities are becoming increasingly complex, digitally enabled and interconnected. As hospitals adopt new technologies and rely more heavily on critical systems, the ability to monitor, manage and optimise infrastructure performance has never been more important.
This Professional Development Day will explore the role of intelligent infrastructure in supporting safer, more resilient and more efficient healthcare environments.
Key themes will include:
Connected operational technology systems
Smart monitoring and predictive insights
Electrical infrastructure health and power quality
Critical care power supply systems
Risk reduction and operational resilience
Improved visibility across complex healthcare assets
Practical approaches to supporting patient-safe environments
Presentation: Unifying Operational Technologies — From Siloes to Connected Healthcare
Presented by: Aneesh Nair, Director, Connected Services, Honeywell
Healthcare facilities continue to face operational challenges driven by siloed operational technology systems, limiting visibility, efficiency and resilience.
This session will explore how healthcare organisations can transition toward a connected operational technology architecture, integrating multi-vendor systems through open protocols and cloud-based platforms.
The presentation will consider how consolidated data, AI/ML and workflow automation can help facilities shift from reactive operations to predictive, insight-driven management. It will also explore how connected systems can support improvements in maintenance, cybersecurity visibility, environmental performance and energy efficiency.
Presentation: Smart Isolated Power Supply Systems for Critical Care Areas
Presented by: George Kotenko, Solutions Manager, Ampcontrol
Isolated power supply systems are essential in ensuring electrical safety and continuous power availability in critical care environments such as operating rooms and intensive care units.
This session will examine how smart isolated power supply systems build on conventional safety and compliance functions by integrating advanced monitoring and information technologies.
The presentation will explore how real-time monitoring at individual socket outlets can assist with faster fault identification, clearer alarm communication and improved situational awareness for medical and technical personnel.
Presentation: How Healthy Is Your Electrical Infrastructure?
Presented by: Jeff Davis, Channel Manager — Regulatory & Standardisation, NHP
As hospitals continue to adopt electrified and digitally enabled infrastructure, power quality is becoming an increasingly important factor in reliability and performance.
This session will focus on harmonic distortion and the limitations of relying on monitoring at the main switchboard alone. Hospitals present a unique challenge, with some equipment generating harmonics and other systems, such as imaging devices, being highly sensitive to them.
The presentation will explore the value of a distributed, site-wide approach to power quality monitoring. By monitoring key points of connection across the network, facilities can better understand where harmonics are introduced, how they move through the system and how they affect critical loads.
Who Should Attend
This event will be of interest to:
Healthcare engineers
Facility and asset managers
Electrical and mechanical services teams
Hospital infrastructure and capital works professionals
Consultants and contractors working in healthcare
Digital infrastructure and operational technology specialists
Energy, sustainability and reliability professionals
Suppliers supporting critical healthcare environments
Why Attend
The IHEA QLD Professional Development Day provides an opportunity to hear from technical specialists, connect with peers and explore practical solutions relevant to healthcare infrastructure.
Attendees will gain insight into how intelligent infrastructure can support stronger decision-making, reduce operational risk, improve system visibility and contribute to more resilient healthcare facilities.
The afternoon will also provide valuable networking opportunities with industry colleagues, sponsors and healthcare infrastructure professionals from across Queensland.
IHEA looks forward to bringing together members and guests for another engaging and practical professional development event in Queensland.
