IHEA NSW is excited to announce an additional component to the upcoming PD + Networking event on Friday, 22 November.
Attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to tour the Sydney Eye Hospital—Australia’s oldest functioning hospital—as well as participate in an engineering-specific guided tour of the adjacent museum.
Sydney Hospital, Australia's first hospital, dates back to the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. Originally known as the "Rum Hospital" because convicts were paid in rum for their labor, it was established as a convict hospital and was the first building on Macquarie Street. The hospital was completed in 1894, and the two outer wings of the original structure remain today in the form of The Mint and NSW Parliament House.
In 1868, what is now called the Nightingale Wing was completed. The Lucy Osburn-Nightingale Museum is located on the first floor of this wing and houses a collection of medical equipment, historical records, and pathology that illustrate the development of nursing and medicine in Australia since 1788.
In addition to the tours, the event will feature a range of expert speakers and presenters who will share insights on managing heritage buildings and navigating the complexities of working within these historic sites.
After the professional development sessions and site tours, guests are invited to join a networking cruise on Sydney Harbour. The cruise will depart from Barangaroo Wharf at 4:30 PM and return at 8:45 PM.
Join the IHEA NSW team for a day filled with learning, networking, and fun. Last-minute tickets are still available!
