We are pleased to announce the first of our speakers to present at this year's upcoming WA State Conference in September, Mr Octo Moniz.
Octo launched into his career after completing studies and securing a silver medal in Engineering in 1977. Since then his experience in the engineering sector in the operations and maintenance of engineering plant has grown extensively.
He has co-authored a book on ‘centrifugal pump engineering’ and delivers technical seminars on a range of engineering subjects.
Octo began working in the health facilities management sector in 1991. After completing his MBA in Tech. Mgmt. and Org. Dev., he was in 2002 invited by the Chief Executive (CE) at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH), to develop & implement an emergency management plan for the hospital. This task was successfully completed and it’s refined model is currently in use to date. It was developed in compliance with the Australian Standards (AS) 4083, for Emergency Planning in a healthcare setting.
On the personal front, Octo has a wife, a son and two daughters – all married and he now has 4 grandchildren to dote over. His aim now is to share with his grandchildren all his learnt Technical and EM experiences.
Octo will be presenting his expertise on 'Emergency Management and Procedures in a large Healthcare Facility – ‘Beyond the Red and Orange'. He will showcase how the 7 x categories of ‘Emergencies’ that occur within major healthcare facilities and which are written into Australian Standard documents; AS – 4083 2010 and AS – 3745 2010 are safely and seamlessly’ implemented and managed within our tertiary healthcare facilities.
